Since yesterday, I'm the proud owner of a RS250. However, after a few hours of frustration, trying to connect to my Synology NAS, I found out today that the RS250 is only capable of using the insecure version 1 of the SMB protocol. This is something I'm not happy about due to the security risk involved.
See also below screenprint with the warning from Synology, date stamp 2017!
Will the RS250 be able to use SMB2 or - preferably - SMB3 sometime soon?
We are considering of SMBv2. We understand the needs of SMBv2(or SMBv3).
However, as it is not an easy update, it will take some time as various investigations are required.
Thanks for this explanation. I do understand that it might take some time to implement this update, but please make sure it gets done. With home networks spanning increasing numbers of devices, security becomes a bigger issue every single day.
Do you have an idea about the timeframe that must be considered? Will it be Q2 2022, or even Q3 maybe?
