Hi! Thanks for the blisteringly fast shipping. I just installed a 2TB SSD. I will have questions that I believe many will have and will post them here. I downloaded the detailed owners manual and have read it but am confused about a couple of things, some things are more network and will check on Apple sites but here is the first...1 In the manual you use the word "scan" and "storage" it is not clear, does that mean for instance when I connect a USB drive with media on it and select scan it will store on the SSD I just installed? The structure of the tree is a bit daunting as I am a MAC user and this reminds me more of Windows/DOS in many ways. Second, is there an easier way to " rip" my media to my 2TB internal drive? Third, does the VU meter only work off music files stored and not other sources? other than the app how do you activate the VU function? In a video someone was touching the screen but the manual makes no mention of the VU meters. Thanks! It looks amazing if a bit more complex that I anticipated.
1. Scan
When the RS201 scans the USB, it doesn't mean to save in internal SSD. You can see music albums and songs in MUSIC MENU.Also, videos in VIDEO menu as well.
Scan is useful for the people who uses very large storage capacity. If you don't scan, you will have to enter the path manually where the file is saved each time.
2. Window based
ROSE OS is based on Android, I guess that's why you felt that way.
3. Rip media to the 2TB internal drive
Does the word 'rip' means the CD ripping? You can specify the storage path on 'CD Ripping' display.
If you hope to bring files from PC to RS201, please check this link.
4. VU Mode
You can see VU modes on other contents as well. For example, radio.
Select a radio channel. Touch the name of the channel, at top of the screen. You will see VU mode icon at the top of the screen.
This works for TIDAL and MUSIC as well.
Play a song, and you will see information about playback on the right side of the screen.
Touch the name of the song, and the screen will change. You can see the VU MODE button on the top of the screen.
When I say rip I mean save onto the SSD. I have that figured out now thanks. Although I thought if I connected a USB drive I could "rip" or " save" onto the SSD that way like other devices.
It would be really great in the future if you offered the VU functionality for every input device, I mostly will use this for my computer so my external DAC is coming in on the RCA's so that would be very nice.
As far as Radio, it seems like everything is defaulting to Korea, hopefully I figure that out soon but not a huge priority tonight.
About VU MODE -
In case of USB IN, VU meter is not supported.
In USB IN mode, the RS150's CPU cannot physically access the DAC, so the current status is unknown.
It is completely changed to DAC mode and can only be accessed by PC.
About RADIO
If you touch the radio icon on the left side of screen, you can see radios for other countries.
However, I admit that there are many Korean channels. We are going to change the radio system. We are preparing to significantly increase the number of radio channels outside Korea.
1. In case of USB IN - VU meter is not supported
2. Airplay & Bluetooth - VU meter is not supported
3. Playing DSD - VU meter is not supported
4. Using RS201 as an amplifier - VU meter is not supported
Is this how you are using? Source - Cocktail Audio DAC - RS201 - Speaker
I guess your system corresponds to the 4th case.
